The IFPS Institute emerges as an obvious choice in the Hauts-du-Chazal. On the urban, architectural and functional levels, as well as in cross-section, it provides a natural synthesis of the area. Why is this so? Because it confirms the orthogonality of the Rue Paré axis with the axis of the visual breakthroughs towards the crest line of the Planoise hillside by reinforcing its intrinsic qualities of a "belvedere street", and by also embracing the orientation towards the doline, echoing the Rue Dolto. Born of the site, the Institute thus clearly expresses these pre-existing directions which become the project's lines of force and the key to an effective response to the program. Because it uses the double topographic decrease of the land to the benefit of a simple and rational architecture, panoramas and a feeling of space reinforced by transparencies.

The IFPS is composed of 4 functional and legible volumes: each functional unit corresponds to a built entity. The Institute is thus made up of 3 wings, stapled to a common base plate. This elegant urban volume, floating horizontally on the hillside, is the "heart of life of the Institute". It constitutes a real urban and landscape link, in plan as well as in cross-section of the land profile, while preserving the IFPS from the nuisances of the hillside and the valley below. This device allows to support the "balcony position", to free a "belvedere walk", to be preserved from the Tram's nuisances, to offer to the South a Belvedere plateau. The plateau is a spatial continuum, whose compactness and depth are the expression of a single multi-field institute. A vast and warm hall designed as a "heart of life". The noble and structuring materials are thus "multi-carded": they characterize the premises in an architecture of timeless good sense and anchored for the future in the present environment. The main circulation artery is naturally lit by patios, which manage night-time cooling. The "interior street" ends in steps towards the Doline. These terraces accompany the slope of the large amphitheater and are a privileged place of conviviality and exchange.
