Restructurée pour accueillir un petit millier de personnes, étudiants, enseignants, chercheurs et personnel administratif, l’ancienne filature de laine offre aujourd’hui un équipement complet regroupant amphithéâtres, salles de cours, espace documentaire, plateau de tournage, laboratoire photo et régies de montage qui en font un équipement moderne et accueillant harmonieusement inséré dans son cadre historique. L’optimisation des hauteurs d’étage, la surélévation et la mise aux normes des circulations verticales s’écrivent dans un dialogue juxtaposé et équilibré de mise en valeur mutuelle. Les deux tours jumelles de circulation, l’une historique, au couronnement crénelé et l’autre moderne,épurée et transparente, en sont l’expression identitaire.
The University Institute of Technology of Tourcoing is the showcase of a sum of immersions; in the local and regional economic and social structure, in the urbanity of the city centre and in the history of an old industry castle, that contributes to the strong identity of the city. Restructured to accommodate a thousand people, students, teachers, researchers and administrative staff, the former wool spinning offers today a complete equipment including amphitheatres, classrooms, a documentary space, a film set, a photo lab and a control room. This whole making it a modern and welcoming equipment harmoniously inserted in its historic setting. The optimisation of the floors heights, the elevation of vertical circulation up to standards are written in a juxtaposed and balanced dialogue of mutual enhancement. The two twin traffic towers, one historic and serrated and the other modern, uncluttered and transparent, are the identity expression.
