Le projet de vie du Foyer Maternel est basé sur la prise en charge éducative et affective de jeunes filles mineures avec enfant, en difficultés sociales et familiales. L’hébergement se fait en studios individuels comprenant chacun un espace lit, un coin enfant, une kitchenette, une salle-de-bain et un espace de travail, regroupés sur deux niveaux dans une aile de l’établissement, en liaison directe avec les espaces de vie collective, salon, salle-à-manger, activités. Des locaux fonctionnels (cuisine, lingerie) sont associés à des locaux administratifs pour assurer la gestion et le suivi éducatif des jeunes prises en charge. Une crèche, intégrée dans le foyer, permet la prise en charge des enfants pendant les périodes de la journée où les jeunes filles sont scolarisées.
Les orientations architecturales répondent aux objectifs recherchés d'accueil et de prise en charge "familiale" dans un environnement de jardins, entre ville et campagne. Le bâtiment s'apparente ainsi à un hameau de quelques maisons ramassées les unes contre les autres. Les toitures affirmées, le traitement des façades et leur vêture en bois contribuent à donner une échelle domestique et chaleureuse au Foyer, sans nier pour autant son caractère d’équipement : l’ensemble constitue un tout homogène. Les pignons volontairement "tranchés", accentuent les césures entre les bâtiments et apportent une vivacité colorée qui contrebalance l’usage du bois et la régularité des ouvertures.
Les faîtages, affirmés par un dispositif de ventelles qui intègre les souches de ventilation, créent une silhouette très identifiante pour l’établissement.
The project of the Maternity Home is based on the educative and emotional care of young girls with children, in social and family difficulties. The individual studio accommodations dispose a single bed a child's corner, a kitchenette, a bathroom and a desk area, they are grouped on two levels in a wing of the establishment, in direct connection with the collective living areas, lounge, dining room, and activities. Functional premises (kitchen, linen room) are linked to administrative premises to ensure the management and the educational follow-up of young people in care. A nursery, integrated in the home, allows the care of the children during the periods of the day when the girls are following classes at school.
The architectural guidelines meet the desired objectives of reception and "family" care in a garden environment, between city and countryside. The building is similar to a hamlet of a few houses gathered against each other. The roofs affirmed, the treatment of the facades and their wooden cladding contribute to giving warmth to the home, without denying its character of equipment: the whole is a homogeneous. The gables deliberately ‘sliced’, accentuate the breaks between buildings and bring a colourful vivacity that counterbalances the use of wood and the regularity of the openings.
The roofing, affirmed by a device of small valves which integrates the strains of ventilation, create a silhouette quite identifiable for the establishment.
