De retour sur son site historique de centre-ville, le cinéma apporte une réponse simple et manifeste aux enjeux urbain, culturel, pédagogique et social. Dans une volumétrie compacte et dynamique, occupant un entre-deux du front bâti dense, l’architecture de la façade d’entrée dialogue avec la façade du Théâtre existant et s’insère dans le front bâti de la rue Saint Louis.

Traitée comme l’assemblage des pièces d’un origami de verre et de métal, elle crée un mouvement perceptible des différents accès au parvis. Cette dynamique volumétrique concilie le prolongement du tissu bâti, l’élargissement du parvis et le reflet de l’environnement. Le traitement vitré permet l’animation de la façade : en journée, elle revoit l’image du théâtre tout en révélant le fourmillement de l’activité interne. La nuit, elle éclaire le parvis, et comme un appel le prolonge à l’intérieur.

Au sein de l’espace d’accueil magistral, les spectateurs sont invités à circuler dans une scénographie d’exposition traversée par un escalier sculptural.  A travers cette mise en scène, c’est un outil de compréhension des flux d’accès aux salles superposées qui leur est donné, c’est aussi une théâtralité qui cristallise leur état émotionnel face au spectacle cinématographique.

Back on his city centre historical site, the cinema brings a simple and undeniable answer to urban, cultural, educational and social issues. In a compact and dynamic volumetry, occupying an in-between of the dense built front, the entry façade’s architecture dialogues with the existing theatre’s façade and fits into the built front of the rue Saint Louis.

Treated as assembling pieces of a glass and metal origami, it creates a perceptible movement from the different access points to the forecourt. This volumetric dynamics reconciles the extension of the built fabric, the forecourt’s enlargement and the environmental reflection.  The glazed treatment allows the façade’s animation: during the day, it mirrors the image of the theatre while revealing the internal activity’s movement. At night, it lights the way for the forecourt, and as a call prolongs it inside.

Within the superb reception area, the spectators are invited to go around in an exhibition scenography crossed by a sculptural staircase. Through this staging, it’s a comprehension tool of the access flows to the superimposed rooms that is given to them, as well as a theatricality which crystallises their emotional state towards the cinematographic entertainment.
