Selon les mots des architectes d’Arte Charpentier, la « forme triangulaire atypique permet de distinguer visuellement les différentes entités, tout en les plaçant dans une position égalitaire. Une répartition spatiale cohérente et harmonieuse qui nie toute hiérarchie dans la relation qu’entretiennent les différents laboratoires entre eux et avec la « zone de vie. »  La hiérarchie spatiale est entièrement tournée à l’avantage de la centralité et permet, autant qu’elle l’exprime symboliquement, la synergie entre laboratoires. L’enjeu de l’extension est de prolonger la forme triangulaire générale en adoptant une composition géométrique totalement vouée à une logique d’extension présente et future et totalement rationnelle par rapport aux contraintes formelles induites par les programmes de laboratoires. L’enjeu est également d’y intégrer une direction forte qui engendre une ouverture sur l’extérieur en cohérence avec le projet paysager et avec la notion de statut des façades.  Nous adoptons en la prolongeant sur l’extension, l’architecture « écrin de cristal » avec ses angles et acrotères arrondis caractéristiques ainsi que le passage de l’opacité à la transparence du verre au moyen d’une sérigraphie blanche à la densité progressive. Nous y superposons cependant une dimension supérieure : celle d’un principe polyvalent de façade qui, à partir d’une grille porteuse récurrente sur l’ensemble de la périphérie, décline différentes options de remplissage opaque et transparent en totale adéquation avec la nature du programme. En perception extérieure, ce principe génère une homogénéité de traitement de façade qui évite l’écueil constaté sur HELIOS (façades « arrières » déshabillées) et propose plutôt des variations subtiles de perception de profondeur et d’échelle. Cet aspect est prégnant en façade Sud-Est qui exprime l’ouverture sur l’extérieur : la stratification des étages disparaît au profit d’une valeur unitaire toute hauteur.

A coherent and harmonious spatial distribution that denies any hierarchy in the relationship that the different laboratories have with each other and with the "living area."  The spatial hierarchy is entirely turned to the advantage of the centrality and allows, as much as it expresses symbolically, the synergy between laboratories. The challenge of the extension is to extend the general triangular shape by adopting a geometrical composition totally dedicated to a logic of present and future extension and totally rational in relation to the formal constraints induced by the laboratory programs. The challenge is also to integrate a strong direction that generates an opening on the outside in coherence with the landscape project and with the notion of status of the facades.  We adopt the "crystal case" architecture with its characteristic rounded angles and acroteria and the transition from opacity to transparency of the glass by means of a white serigraphy with a progressive density, by extending it to the extension. However, we have superimposed a higher dimension: that of a versatile façade principle which, starting from a recurring load-bearing grid over the entire periphery, offers different options of opaque and transparent filling in total adequacy with the nature of the program. In terms of external perception, this principle generates a homogeneous treatment of the facade which avoids the pitfall seen on HELIOS (undressed "rear" facades) and instead offers subtle variations in the perception of depth and scale. This aspect is prominent in the south-east façade, which expresses the opening to the outside: the stratification of the floors disappears in favour of a unitary value at any height.
