« Continuum urbain »
« Urban continuum »

Against the sprawl on the ground and the closure of the plot, the project opposes its verticality. It is thus conceived in the spatial, architectural and urban continuum of the existing building to which it is directly connected. Different, but without cleavage, the extension takes the orthogonality, the template and the volumetric partition of the existing, it recomposes them facing the street. The inner courtyard remains open to neighbouring buildings, preserving the views and the interior brightness. The siding on the street leads back to the foreground and affirms the identity and continuity of the campus.

The building thus asserts its identity in the continuity of the existing one, it takes again the volumetric partition and the general size but is distinguished by its own features. It completes, by the subtlety of its dressing that shows and reveals, the standardized rigor of existing facades. EOST is not "the existing building and its extension" but a balanced set in which each of the parties respond.
